Supporting Scenario-Based Training
Practical training gives students the opportunity to apply their skills in realistic situations. For instructors, being able to observe how a scenario unfolds—and revisit key moments afterwards—is an important part of providing useful feedback.
The Liverpool Docks facility needed a CCTV system that would support both activities. Instructors required visibility of students during exercises, alongside recorded footage they could use to discuss performance, highlight successful actions and identify areas for improvement.
The Solution: NDAA-Compliant CCTV Installation
Bold Security installed an NDAA-compliant CCTV system to support the facility’s training requirements.
The system enables instructors to watch students as they work through training scenarios, providing a view of how each exercise progresses. Recorded footage can then be used during after-action reviews, giving instructors and students a shared reference point for discussing what happened.
This connects observation during the exercise with feedback afterwards, helping instructors explain specific moments in context.
An after-action review is an opportunity to reflect on a completed exercise: what went well, where difficulties arose and what could be improved next time.
By reviewing CCTV footage together, instructors and students can revisit the sequence of events and focus on individual actions. This supports clear, practical feedback grounded in the exercise itself.
The installation provides the training team with a tool for observing scenarios, reviewing performance and helping students understand where they can develop their skills.
This project demonstrates how CCTV can support specialist operational needs, including training and performance review.
